Coffee Morning—10am (Sunday 20th June) proceeds to the Ashanti Project in Ghana for children in schools to provide education, materials etc. Kilembero Rice Challenge: Eat Someone out of Poverty—This Sunday during the coffee morning after 10am mass St. Andrew’s Justice and Peace group are participating in the Kilembero rice challenge. This was started by the Balmore Coach House in order to help small farmers in Malawi gain a fair price for their rice. The aim is to sell 90kg. Of rice. Only 1 in 3 children attends High School in Malawi. Education is one of the most effective ways to escape poverty. You can make all the difference, if 90 people each buy 1 kg of rice you can eat someone out of poverty. Made by small producers, the rice is also very tasty. Cost is £2. 75 for one kilo and £5 for two. St. Andrew’s Whist Drive—Will be held a week earlier than usual, on Monday 21st June in the Lower Hall at 7.30pm. Sorry for any inconvenience! All welcome Summer Walks—Walks have been arranged for 29th July—Jaw Reservoir and Cochno Loch and 22nd August—The Whangie. Meet in St. Andrew’s Church car park at 1pm. Contact Joe Gregory for details 942 3630 Legion of Mary—Day of Thanksgiving will be celebrated with Mass, Benediction and Rosary Procession out of doors at Carfin Grotto on Sunday 20th June, 3pm—6pm. A coach will leave Douglas St carpark, Milngavie for Carfin at 1 30pm prompt and will return from Carfin at 6 00pm arriving back around 7 00/7 15pm to Douglas St car park Milngavie. Remembrance Mass—Holy Mass will be celebrated in St Agnes’ Church, Lambhill, on Sunday 27 June at 3pm for the faithful departed whose final committal took place in St Kentigern’s Cemetery, the Western Necropolis Cemetery, Lambhill Cemetery or at Glasgow Crematorium. You—The parishioners within our deanery have decided to hold a public
awareness meeting with regard the issues of the proposed suicide bill and
the implications. The aim is to discuss the issues, concerns and
implication of the assisted suicide bill going through the Scottish
parliament and how this affects YOU. Thanks—for the Assisted Parishes collection last week—£436 00. Papal Visit—Leaflets “The Pope in Britain” published by the C.T.S. are advertising preparatory reading materials for the visit—leaflets are available at the Piety Stall. Other resources are available by visiting www.beingcatholic.org So far we have no details concerning tickets or transport for the Mass at Bellahouston. Diocesan Ordinations—3rd July 2010 at 11 30am at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Calton. Twelve tickets are available. If you wish to attend and apply for tickets, please contact Fr. Donnelly. Congratulations—To Mrs Angela Bruno on her award of MBE for her work with her committee over many years in fund raising for breast cancer research and treatment. Congratulation—Canon Gerard Tartaglia our Dean in the North West Deanery, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood on Friday 25th June at 7pm at St. Margaret’s Clydebank.
